Social Action and Justice

Our Lady of Dolours proudly supports many Catholic agencies throughout the school year.

In Term 1 we Support Caritas through Project Compassion. During this time we hold ‘Walk for Water’ and ‘Purple Day’, as well as have collection boxes in our classrooms.

In Term 2 we hold a St Vinnies Winter Appeal where where families donate food and clothing to support the underprivileged families in our community.

In Term 3 we have a few focus areas; our Year 6 students participate in a Social Justice evening with our Parish Schools of St William’s and St Andrew’s, then our students have a sleep out back at school. We also raise funds for our sister Parish in Timor Lesté. Finally we have a gold coin donation for the Annual Catholic Campaign.

Term 4 sees us engage in a fun day of ‘mission stalls’, where all funds raised are sent to Catholic Mission to support the wonderful work that they do.

In Term 4 we also support St Vincent de Paul in their annual Christmas Appeal. Each class ‘adopts’ a family and fills a basket with goodies and gifts to brighten the Christmas of those less fortunate in our community.
